This summer, it’s all about freedom. Trying to shake off those pandemic vibes from the past two years is a feat in itself, but we are determined to help you! Today we have compiled our favorite activities to do this summer and why we need to get back out there asap!!
Get shoes and get going. Pack some snacks, a hat, and water. Find a slope and adventure away. Australia is perfect for exploring, and there’s no need to go far from civilization to find yourself in a tranquil rainforest, bushland area, or rugged terrain. You don’t have to be fit to hike; you can head out for a bit of a Captain Cook (a look). You might go 15km. You might do two and settle in for lunch. Take some pals and enjoy getting back to nature – you may have found a new hobby.
There’s nothing worse than making the trek home after a huge day of adventuring. So take your home with you! This summer, we’re heading out on the road and making the most of motorhome hire in Australia.
Go at your own pace and take your food. Van life is one of the most affordable holiday options and the best way to see the country. Stop in the little places and discover the next award-winning vanilla slice or country pie. When you have your own tiny home with you, you’ll rediscover that freedom that has been so elusive the last 20 months or so. Bliss.
Hopefully, you haven’t spent all your lockdown cash on online shopping because now is the time to get some local produce into you. We Aussies don’t need any encouragement, but we reckon the humble winery is the best place to spend our summer. They are already socially distant due to scrawling hills of green vines, and we can’t wait. Challenge is to try some of the teeny tiny little guys that don’t get stocked at Dan Murphy’s. Lucky for us, they tend to cluster. Head to a wine region near you, go for a cruise and do the French-style cellar doors (a little at each). Tip your designated driver by shouting them lunch; it’s only fair.
We miss our plays and movies, but art doesn’t only exist indoors. Thanks to COVID, there are so many more open-air opportunities coming up to get your dose of culture in the great outdoors. Check out your local council website, check out some # on Insta or arts festivals on Facebook. We promise there are many creative experts out there who have had far too long without their usual creative outlets.
Stay with us. It’s not glamping, but it isn’t your regular picnic either. Enter the fancy picnic—the Ficnic. You don’t have to have the fanciest basket with matching plates and serviettes, but you need to get all those treat foods that you usually ration out throughout the year—smoked salmon or oysters? Why not both! Make some fancy water by adding rainbow cut-up fruit served in clear cups. Head to your local op shop and score some bright fabric that’s for creating a scenic backdrop and some cozy cushions that won’t go astray either. The best part is if everyone brings a little something you can have a 5-course meal for the price of one!
Happy summer!
