Rowan Atkinson or as he is known to be Mr.Bean, the English actor comedian star who is known worldwide has been a victim of death hoax which claiming that he committed suicide. This weeks, Atkinson’s representative has confirmed that he is well and alive. There were many false news reports on Facebook about Atkinson’s death, which spread by way of a malicious app. This rumor spread by a lot of people via Facebook and twitter which makes it to appear true, but it was found to be a virus as “clicking on this false report will install a malicious computer program that will infect your computer with a virus or Trojan horse,” said Online Threat Alerts.
The death rumor reads, “English Actor Comedian Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) died at 58 after committing suicide. The comedian committed suicide right after the producer remove him on Johnny English 3. Rowan Atkinson(Mr Bean) recorded a suicide video with a message to his producer and fans around the world. (watch more).” It also claims that this report is from CNN and has the network’s logo. The website Online Threat Alerts said that the rumor was created “with the intention of tricking gullible social networking users into installing a malicious Facebook application. This application can be used to spread spam and other malicious posts to all of your Facebook friends.”
India Today reported that “Atkinson’s representatives have confirmed that the “Mr. Bean” star is alive and well.”
In the past, there were many malicious Facebook apps which have spread rumors about the death of many stars such as Celine Dion, Eddie Murphy, Oprah Winfrey, Jackie Chan and Justin Bieber.
