How to Draw Disney Characters Step By Step

It is always fun to draw a Disney character, especially when you are a big fan. However, most people don’t really understand what is required in such a process. Due to this, they consider it as very technical and complicated. This isn’t true in any way as you will soon find out. In this post, our magazine reveals how you can draw Disney characters. Just follow the steps below.

What you have to understand

Before starting to draw Disney characters, you need to take note that there are lots of them. For instance, there are different types of Disney characters. These can be Tweety bird, Alice, Minion Dave, Dumbo flying, Pluto, Belle, Bambi, Bugs Bunny, Winnie-the-Pooh, Jake from Neverland Pirates, and more. Understand that the steps for each of such characters are slightly different. The tutorial in this post will be focusing on Pluto.

Step 1

A circle should be drawn close to the top edge of your paper. Please note that it should be in the form of a sketch. This will be the head of Pluto. In case you can’t draw a circle, it will be better to use any circular object like a lid or a coin. The image below will show you some inspiration.

Step 2

Once you have drawn the circle as instructed above, it is time to draw a line inside of it. The reason for drawing this line is to ensure that you can place the facial features of Pluto inside of it. Just draw a curved line (horizontal) as shown below. The line should be close to the circle’s bottom. Now, another curved (vertical line) should be added on the top.

Step 3

A sideways arc should be drawn. This will represent Pluto’s muzzle. It needs to be on the circle’s lower left side. Two factors should be taken into consideration here. These are its size and line. Your drawing should be something similar to the below picture.

Step 4

In the below diagram, you will notice two circles have been added. These will represent the upper and lower parts of Pluto’s body respectively. Just ensure to pay close attention to their sizes. It means they shouldn’t too big in comparison with the head. Also, take note of how they have been positioned.

Step 5

Use curved lines in connecting the body circles. You can see how they have been connected in the below diagram.

Step 6

On the lower left part of Pluto’s body, 2 wide oval shapes should be drawn. This will be its front paw (first). Just as in the diagram below, there should be a vertical line connecting the upper part of its body and the oval shape drawn. For better understanding, take a look at the diagram above to compare. You can see how the shape is connecting.

Step 7

Do you notice how the legs have been drawn with tilted arcs? Just follow the red lines and do something similar on your own. They will be Pluto’s two legs (left and right). Remember that it should be in the form of a sketch in case adjustment is needed. It is basically all about drawing the left leg first and then doing the same for the right.

Step 8

Can you see the small oval which is on the sideways arc’s top? Also, draw some curved lines (3) as a guide for the muzzle’s top part.

Step 9

Two arcs representing the eyes of Pluto should be drawn. Just as shown below, they should be on either of the vertical line’s sides. Ensure the left eye is smaller.

Step 10

Two oval shapes that are dotted should be drawn inside their eyes. These will represent the pupils. Two arcs should be drawn representing its eyebrows.

Step 11

Two curved lines should be drawn as the top part of its muzzle. Notice how the muzzle has been split under the nose of Pluto. Just below the eye, a small line should be drawn on the right top. You can see how the red line shapes are drawn. Do something similar.

Step 12

Two long shapes will be drawn representing the ears of Pluto.  Notice that they are slightly different shapes.

Step 13

Bump lines will have to be drawn representing bumps on the head of Pluto. Curved lines should also be drawn for the tongue inside its mouth.

Step 14

A line should be drawn from the ear to its collar. Take note of the line’s starting and ending points. The shorter curved lines are meant to ensure that the collar is very thick.

Step 15

You will now draw Pluto’s first long leg. Also, take note of the curved line representing the elbow. Just look at all the curved lines closely and see how they have been drawn. Also, notice how the toes are drawn.

Step 16

The other front leg should be drawn. For inspiration, look at how the curve lines are drawn. You can see that one toe is smaller than the other as a result of how Pluto is assumed to be positioned.

Step 17

Through the tilted arc, the first behind leg can be drawn. The straight line is showing how the leg is folded. Draw other curves representing its toes.

Step 18

Do something similar to step 17. However, the line and curves should be smaller.

Step 19

Using the diagram below, draw the other parts of its body including the tail. Notice that the tail’s bottom part is thicker.

Step 20

This is the final stage where you will have to color the drawing to make it appear more real as shown below.
