Fashion is a cyclical thing, and sometimes it’s surprising what comes back in terms of what we’re wearing time and time again. In other cases, it’s no surprise at all – the things we see in a variety of forms are there because they are timeless, and everyone loves them.
So what is on the cards for men’s fashion trends in 2023? What is making a comeback? We’ve compiled a list of just a few of the items you’ll certainly want in your wardrobe this year if you want to look on trend at all times. Read on to find out more.
1 Looser Fashion
It seems as though, for 2023, at least (remember, some trends just won’t go away, so you might see them again at some point), the skinny jean is dead. So too is the slim-fitting suit. In fact, anything tight and body-hugging has disappeared from the rails and the fashion shows this year, and we’re left with some lovely examples of fashion that fits. Not too big, not too small, but just right.
Shirts for men are a great example here that you might not have considered. A shirt that’s too big or too small will never look smart, no matter how good the quality might be, whereas a shirt that fits well will be on trend even if it’s not made by a designer. Get yourself measured and buy the right size, as it will make all the difference.
2 Bright Knits
Nobody ever claimed that knits couldn’t be worn in the summer, and these garments are so stylish you’ll want to wear them all year long. Instead of sticking to boring neutrals, choose something lively and bright that you can easily incorporate into your current wardrobe. You might wear a heavy knit cardigan over a thin tee, a snug sweater, or nothing at all. Shades of yellow, blue, or green are all good options because they work well with a wide variety of wardrobe staples. Go bold with designs, patterns, or contrasting hues.
3 Cargo Shorts
Although it was once considered the worst fashion crime, cargo shorts are once again in style. While this may still be seen as a mistake by some, the new styles and the way you wear them can definitely make them feel just right.
Make sure the remainder of your wardrobe is chic and stylish, especially if you’re going to wear this divisive item. This means putting on a nice button-down shirt or jacket and a new pair of trainers. There are a lot of reasons why these bottoms are the best of the season. They’re comfortable and easy to wear, and their many pockets make them a great choice if you need to carry a few things with you.
4 Flared Trousers
Flared trousers have been popular on and off since the 1940s, most recently in the 2010s. The design of the trousers gives the wearer the optical appearance of being taller, and they’re also quite easy to style. Black trousers, a leather jacket, and a simple tee are the quintessential everyday outfit. Wearing a chequered or checked pattern that harkens back to a bygone age with a sweater of the same shade is a more modern take on the trend. Alternating between leather, cotton, and linen is a terrific way to add dimension and intricacy to an ensemble without going overboard.
