1. The unicorn is known as a legendary animal which has been known and described since antiquity as a beast with a large pointed and spiraling horn coming from its forehead.
2.The Bible also describes it as an animal called “the re’em” which some translations have rendered with the word unicorn.
3. It was depicted in the ancient seals of the Indus Valley Civilization.
4. It was also mentioned by the ancient Greeks in accounts of natural history by various writers, including Ctesias, Strabo, Pliny the Younger, and Aelian.
5. The unicorn is often depicted as a white horse-like or goat-like animal with a long horn and cloven hooves in the European folklore.
6. In the middle ages and Renaissance, the unicorn was described as a symbol of purity and grace which could only be captured by a virgin.
7. It was also it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature.
8. In many encyclopedias, it was said that its horn have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness.
9. The horn of the narwhal was sometimes sold as unicorn horn in the medieval and renaissance times.
